Junior Report: Alton Dixon

Lufkin DB Alton Dixon (6-0 190) has 11 offers to date and has some early leaders too. Dixon earned first team all-district for his play last year. He logged 45 tackles, picked off three passes, caused and recovered 2 fumbles, broke up 12 passes and even scored a defensive TD. So who are his early leaders?

"Right now Arizona and OU," said Dixon. "Oklahoma's coaching staff reminds me a lot of my own so I am at home with their style and I felt like I had a bond with coach Mike Stoops out at Arizona."

Dixon was clearly impressed with the coaching resumes of Mike and Mark Stoops.

"He (Mark) coached Sean Taylor and a lot of other guys that I really admire," said Dixon. "He knows what it will take for me to get to the next level."

Thoughts on some of his other offers?

"I really want to watch both Texas Tech and Texas A&M this year to see how their defenses bounce back from last year," said Dixon. "If they show signs of improvement, I will become a lot more interested in those programs especially with the playing time they can offer."

Dixon also has an offer from LSU but their depth at his position may scare him a little bit.

"They were the first school I had recruiting me but their talent runs really deep at my position on their roster." said Dixon.
