Junior Report: Eric Childs

The Red Raiders have offered a trio of Irving Macarthur defenders this year. We've spoken with LaShawn Vation and Brent Nickerson. Now meet defensive end Eric Childs, who also has the Red Raiders in his top 5.

"I have offers from Missouri, Baylor, Tulsa, Kansas State, Texas Tech, Iowa State, Arizona State and Colorado State," said Childs.

Childs said his top five in random order is Missouri, TTU, K-State, Baylor and Tulsa.

"I am impressed with the coaching staff and defensive scheme at Missouri," said Childs.

The style of defense played at Baylor has Childs' attention.

"I really like the fact that the Bears run a lot of stunts," said Childs. "I really like coming off the end."

The potential of a good defense coupled with a powerhouse offense is what Eric likes about Texas Tech.

"Texas Tech has a young defense that has been picking up good talent along the way recently," said Childs. "With that offense and a potentially good defense, it's easy to see how Tech will be a strong to team."

Childs mentioned that he will be visiting Lubbock this weekend.

Thoughts on the Wildcats?

"Kansas State has a strong team that is always playing in the post season," said Childs.

Tulsa's academics interest Eric.

"I like Tulsa because it's a good private school with a great graduation rate," said Childs.

We'll catch up with Eric next week to get the latest on his visit to the Hub City.
