Junior Report: Chris Cunigan

One of Texas Tech's earliest commitments this year may turn out to be one of the best. Wide receiver Chris Cunigan (6-4, 193) was the big play man for Wills Point last season and the Red Raider coaching staff hopes he can translate that success to the next level.

At present, Texas Tech remains Cunigan's only offer, but that's likely is due to his firm commitment status to the Red Raider coaching staff.

"I get a lot of stuff from TCU, Oklahoma State, Utah, and Arkansas," said the state's third ranked receiver. "I am always very up front with them and let them know that I am firmly committed to Texas Tech."

Cunigan said he was enamored with Texas Tech during his visit to the campus during the team's Spring Game.

"I was very impressed with the fan base that showed up at the spring game, not to mention the facilities themselves." said Cunningan. "I was able to meet a lot of the coaches and tour all of the football and academic facilities too."

Cunigan said that the offense that the Red Raiders run is the main reason for his commitment.

"They spread the ball around a lot and as a receiver, I love that," said Cunigan. "They had three guys with over 75 receptions last year."

The depth chart at QB also caught Chris' eye.

"I went to one of Graham Harrell's games last year and he was just awesome. My dad remarked to me at that game that it would be great for me to play with a guy like Graham," said Cunigan. "They also have a great recent history of quarterbacks with Kliff Kingsbury and BJ Symons. I think Graham will keep that tradition going."

Anything to say to the Red Raider fans?

"I look forward to coming in there and helping lead the team to a Big 12 championship and a national championship too," said Cunigan.
