Junior Report: Darius Warner

The defensive line is clearly an area where the Texas Tech coaching staff feels there are needs to fill. Grapevine High School defensive end Darius Warner (6-4 260) is definitely a recruit that could be a difference maker in the trenches. How does Warner feel about the Red Raiders?

"They're definitely number one on my list," said Warner, who plans on taking a visit to Lubbock in the next few weeks. "I like everything about Texas Tech and their program."

At the moment, Texas Tech is Warner's only offer but he is expecting to be offered by Kansas State, Oklahoma State and SMU shortly. Does the fact that the Red Raiders offered first help their cause?

"It definitely gives them the upper hand," said Warner. "I get letters from Coach Mainord almost on a daily basis and I like that."

The early playing time that Tech can offer is an added bonus according to Warner.

"I like the fact that I can come in and play early and hopefully help turn around their defense," said Warner. "It's also good to know that they're going to run out a good offense every year. That helps out the defense a lot."

So what are some deciding factors that will aid in Darius' decision making process?

"I want to be able to play for a good program and receive a good education," said Warner.

We plan on catching up with Warner after his visit to the Hub City in a few weeks.
