Texas Tech Scores Commitment No. 10

Spring Westfield TE Sandy Riley gave Texas Tech an oral commitment just this past Wednesday. We caught up with Sandy Riley's father to grab a few details.

"Really he wasn't going to commit this early," Riley's father said regarding his son's decision to pull the commitment trigger. "Usually I can figure out what he's thinking or pry for info but he wouldn't tell me anything. I think it was planned. I think he wanted to commit on my birthday and Texas Tech was where he wanted to go. I had no idea it would be Texas Tech."

The courtship started in May...

"We had no idea that Tech was even remotely interested in recruiting him until the May evaluation period," Mr. Riley revealed. "He'd been receiving a piece of mail (or two) a week, but nothing significant. Then all of the suden he gets an email from one of the coaches recruting him and they wanted to offer a scholarship."

Thoughts on the Scarlet and Black?

"They're very impressive. These guys don't wait. They just attack and attack. And Sandy's just like that. I think it's a good fit for him to be quite honest with you."

We'll do our best to catch up with Sandy soon to grab his thoughts on the commitment...
