Henderson Named Big 12 Player of the Week

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech junior RB Taurean Henderson (Gatesville, Texas) was named the SBC/Big 12 Conference Offensive Player of the Week after rushing for 169 yards, including a 70-yard run for the game-winning touchdown, in Tech's 31-30 victory at Kansas last Saturday.

Henderson tied a career-high with 17 carries and set a personal standard with his rushing yardage. With a little over a minute to play in the game and Tech trailing 30-24, Henderson took a handoff from QB Sonny Cumbie on a third-and-six call and rushed up the middle for the score. The run was the longest of his career.

Henderson, also named the Dallas Morning News Player of the Week, currently ranks ninth on the Tech career rushing touchdowns list with 23 and is in fifth place on the Tech career touchdowns list with 35. Additionally, Henderson is tied in third place on the Tech career receptions list with 196.
