James Pierce Brings Height/Size to Tech Secondary

Longview cornerback James Pierce comments on his decision to join teammate and friend Corderra Hunter in becoming Red Raiders...

"Texas Tech has been recruiting me harder than anyone else since day one," James Pierce told Scout.com. "Plus, my boy (Corderra Hunter) committed there and we said we were going to go to the same school. So I called Coach Bill Bedenbaugh and told him I wanted to be a Red Raider."

Coach Bedenbaugh's reaction?

"Oh, he was happy to hear it," said the 6-0, 185-pound corner. "He said, 'You don't know how happy we are down here at Tech to hear that.'"

The addition of Pierce, a Texas Hot 100 #95 pick, gives the Scarlet and Black perhaps their most ballyhooed secondary class in quite some time...

Senior Season Stats: 90 tackles, 2 INTs, 10 PBUs, 2 FFs.

Pierce, an outstanding centerfielder also, (hit .475, with 4 home runs, 22 RBIs and had 3 put outs last year for the Longview baseball team), said he might try his hand at that sport for the Red Raiders, as well.
