TTU '05 Secondary Class Very Solid

Texas Tech's secondary class is absolutely ripe with blue-chip talents. Recent pickups from the Longview cornerback tandem Corderra Hunter and James Pierce has solidified the Red Raider secondary. Inside, we take a look at who they have landed thus far, plus throw in a couple of Hunter and Pierce scouting reports via Longview head coach John King...

Texas Tech's secondary class includes Keller S/LB prospect Jordan Thomas, along with four Texas Hot 100 selections:

Hot 100 #27 -- Ishie Oduegwu FS Denton Ryan 5-9/185/4.5
Hot 100 #37 -- Corderra Hunter CB Longview 6-2/185/4.4
Hot 100 #60 -- LaShawn Vation FS Irving MacArthur 5-10/185/4.55
Hot 100 #95 -- James Pierce CB Longview 6-0/185/4.5

Recently picking up commitments from the Longview cornerback tandem of Hunter and Pierce, we wanted to grab a quick scouting report from Lobo head coach John King...

King on Pierce: "He's a big, tall corner that has good speed. He's physical, a good tackler, can play the ball in the air well, real well. Those tall, physical corners are hard to find. And he's one of those. They don't come around very often."

King on Hunter: "Great track speed, 21-second 200-meter time. He's a big, physical kid, probably 10 pounds heavier and an inch taller than Pierce -- just a physical kid who will come and hit you. And he's not done growing. He has a build that will mature. He may stay at corner, but he could grow into a safety, or linebacker.
