Chris Todd Talks Red Raider Commitment

Elizabethtown, Kentucky QB Chris Todd after setting a couple of decision dates for his official announcement and surpassing both of those dates because he needed more time, made his decision last night picking the Red Raiders, primarily over the Sooners and The Wolfpack…

"(Texas Tech) Coach Sonny Dykes came by yesterday and he's been very patient," Chris Todd told Scout.com last night. "They've been waiting for quite a while. So I thought I needed to go ahead and make a decision."

While he had Memphis, North Carolina, North Carolina State and Oklahoma chasing, it was Texas Tech who got the nod…

"Texas Tech just seemed like the best situation for me," Todd explained. "They were needin' a QB and were needin' to know what I was going to do. And, that was where I wanted to go. I called Mike Leach and he was very excited for me. My parents are excited, and so am I."

While the 2/3-star signal caller admitted it was a very tough decision, one the factors that gave him a bit of clarity was none other than the Scarlet and Black's Holiday Bowl Victory over California, the No. 4-rated team in the country.

"(Texas Tech) showed they were up-and-coming and definitely a program on the rise. A, program on the rise, one of the top Big 12 teams, and if you're sitting at the top of the Big 12, then Tech is definitely sittin' in a situation to challenge for championships. I just think that now is a really good time and situation to go to Tech to become a part of that."

[The Red Raiders will get a field general who, in his junior campaign, opened everybody's eyes with 4,595 yards passing to go along with 50 TDs. His career stats in high school were as follows: 10,766 yards, 120 TD passes…]
