************CB ANTHONY ARLINE (6-2, 185, 4.4) ************

Arline played cornerback and wide receiver for a San Antonio Madison, which finished 11-3 this season. He was named the Greater San Antonio defensive player of the year by the San Antonio Express-News.

He was credited with 42 1/2 tackles, four interceptions, five pass breakups, two fumble recoveries and a forced fumble.

As a wide receiver, he caught 17 passes for 506 yards and four touchdowns this season. He also returned three kickoffs and a punt for touchdowns.

At the UIL state track meet last May, Arline finished third in the Class 5A 300-meter hurdles with a time of 36.64 seconds and took fifth in the 110-meter hurdles in 14.20.

Emfinger's Evaluation:"Arline is probably the best free safety in Texas this season. There are a lot of highly rated defensive backs in Texas this year, but most of them are cornerbacks. He does it all on defense. He makes bone-crunching tackles, returns punts and kickoffs, and intercepts passes."

*****************FEBRUARY 4 UPDATE********************

TE: What's your commitment status?

AA: "I'm 95 percent sure that I'll sign with Baylor on Wednesday (February 6)."

TE: Where does that leave Tech?

AA: "Tech is the other five percent. It came down to Tech and Baylor, but I feel more comfortable in Waco."

TE: Why did you change your commitment from Tech to Baylor?

AA: "I was very interested in Tech, but my parents liked Baylor a lot. We got along with Coach (Kevin) Steele really well and I feel more at home with Baylor."

TE: Is there still a chance you might sign with Tech on Wednesday?

AA: "Yes, there is, but it's unlikely. Probably a five percent chance."

TE: Thanks for your time tonight. Good luck on Wednesday.

AA: "Thanks."
