***********RB/LB CHRIS CAMPBELL (6-0, 220, 4.3) ************

As a junior, Campbell rushed for 1,273 yards and scored 15 touchdowns while averaging 8.3 yards per carry.

During his senior campaign, Campbell rushed for over 1,000 yards, which included an impressive 223-yard performance during a 13-7 victory over Flour Bluff in late October.

For his career, Campbell recorded more than 3,000 yards rushing. He posted a 10.45 clocking in the 100-meter dash as a junior.

Emfinger's Evaluation: "Chris is a great two-way athlete, who can probably play on either side of the football in college. He might get a shot at running back, but will probably end up on defense, because Tech is going after speed linebackers to play in the Big 12 Conference."

****************FEBRUARY 6 UPDATE********************

JG: What's your current commitment status?

CC: "I'll sign my letter-of-intent with Tech between 9 A.M. and 9:30 A.M. tomorrow (Wednesday, February 6). There's no reason to wait."

JG: Are you a full-qualifier?

CC: "Yes."

JG: What other schools did you consider?

CC: "I chose Texas Tech over UTEP, Oklahoma, TCU, Michigan and Tulsa."

JG: What position do you anticipate playing at Tech?

CC: "I'm pretty sure I'll be playing linebacker, but I wouldn't mind playing running back either."

JG: Do you think you will see significant playing time as a freshman next season?

CC: "The coaches said they want me to come right in and start. They told me to start looking at film right away."

JG: What do you think of Coach Leach?

CC: "Coach Leach is a funny guy and he's cool. He tried to pull a practical joke on me during my visit."

JG: Where do you see Coach Leach taking the Tech football program?

CC: "He's already taken Tech to two bowl games since he's been there. I think one of our goals over the next few years will be a national title."
