Softball Team Blanks New Mexico

<p>Sophomore Ashley Parker went 3 for 4 to help guide the Red Raiders to an 8-0 win over New Mexico. Tech battled New Mexico for their first game on day two of the 2005 Mutual of Omaha Tournament. The rest of day two of the tournament has been canceled due to rain. Tournament play will resume at 9 a.m. Sun., March, 6. Tech is now 8-7 on the season.

The Red Raiders posted six runs in the first inning to pull ahead of New Mexico. Tech got started when freshman Jennifer Corkin hit a double to left field scoring A, Parker and Natalie Enderlin. Sophomore Natalie Kula knocked in Corkin when she singled up the middle. Sophomore Heather Parker singled and then advanced to second on the throw and scored Brandy Moulin and Kelly Rhyne. Tech made it all the way around their line-up as A, Parker hit a sacrifice bunt scoring Kula.

Tech put two more runs up in the sixth inning as Enderlin grounded out to second base allowing A, Parker to score. Corkin walked and advanced around the bases off of a pass ball and two walks. Corkin scored the eighth run on a passed ball.
