WR Prospect From South Garland HS

<p>A track star and football player with a season left in High School considers Arizona, Houston, Kansas, Oklahoma State, TCU, Texas A&M, and Texas Tech while contemplating D-1 offers.

Derron Montgomery is of the top wideout prospects in the state of Texas and he hails from South Garland high school. We talk a bit about him below...

South Garland WR prospect Derron Montgomery is not that far behind in talent/upside when comparing him to his teammate (and UT commit) Phillip Payne. Again, we've been tracking these two kids since they were sophomores. And, let me assure you, these two receivers can play.

Montgomery will have several teams chasing him before it's all said and done, make no mistake, and already holds four D-I offers (Arizona, Houston, Kansas, Oklahoma State). Keep an eye on this kid...

Additional Notes: South Garland HC Mickey Moss told us Montgomery -- 6-2, 185 pounds -- is having an awesome year in track.

"He runs on our 4X100 (41.4 is 5th-fastest in Texas), 4X200 and anchors our 4X400m," Moss said. "This past week at the Dallas Carter Relays Derron ran the open quarter. This was only the second time this year Derron ran and just the third time in his HS career. However, Derron ran the fastest time in the state of Texas this year. He ran a fully automated time of 47.25 seconds. Derron will run the 200m this weekend."

"Derron is most excited about his upcoming senior year of football," Moss added. "He's already received several D-1 offers. Derron is the son of former Philadelphia Pro-Bowler running back Wilburt Montgomery. Wilburt currently coaches for the St. Louis Rams."

The DFW-Area receiver is a Scout.com Texas Top 200 prospect, likely Scout.com Texas Top 100 prospect, and his favorite teams are as follows: Arizona, Houston, Kansas, Oklahoma State, TCU, Texas A&M and Texas Tech.
