Potts seems to be pretty content with where he is right now because he has no real summer plans. Potts informed us that he's "not sure about any camps, but if an official visit offer comes up I might take it, but Tech is still #1." It's obvious that Tech is sitting pretty as of now. Potts will not be attending the second round of the Elite 11 workouts, but will be headed to Arkansas in mid-July for the Top Gun QB 1 Challenge.
We did report earlier that Greg McElroy was interested in Tech and this could be an interesting situation. With a weak class of quarterbacks coming through next year, Tech could be looking at grey shirting a second quarterback this year. This means that a second quarterback recruit would be taken this year but asked to pay his way through the first Fall, but would then be put on scholarship in the spring, counting his scholarship to the class of 2007. McElroy is the obvious second target, but Potts is still number 1 to the Red Raiders. We asked Potts how this situation would impact his commitment and he answered with this; "It's ok if it will help Tech football, and I will still have a seasons worth of work done before he gets there and I'm just going to let God handle the rest."
We also mentioned Potts' star receiver Lyle Leong. "Last I heard from him and how he felt is that if tech offered him he would accept." Leong is not currently being recruited heavily by anyone else according to Potts' recollections.
We'll check back in with Taylor later on to see how he performed at the Top Gun camp.
