Aggies Stun Tech 7-6

COLLEGE STATION, Texas--Ty Garner's RBI single with two outs in the bottom of the 10th inning rallied Texas A&M to a 7-6 victory over Tech in the Big 12 conference opener for both teams on Friday at Olsen Field.

The Raiders (13-5) took an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning when freshman right fielder Madison Edwards smashed a two-run single to left field with the bases loaded.

Edwards plated Jon Slack, who led off the game with a single to left field and Austin Cranford, who picked up a walk from A&M starter Justin Moore. Slack's lead-off single extended his hitting streak to 12 games.

Texas A&M's Tim Petru tied the game in the bottom of the second with a two-run home run. The Aggies then took the lead on Erik Schindewolf's single which plated Justin Pouk, giving A&M a 3-2 lead.

Senior Nick Blankenship tied the game for Tech in the top of the third with a double.

Tech took the lead in the top of the fourth on a two-out single by Willie Durazo that plated Slack, putting Tech ahead 4-3.

The Raiders scored two more runs in the top of the fifth with two outs. Bryon Smith doubled, Gera Alvarez walked and Joel Buchenauer singled, which scored Smith and advanced Alvarez to third. Alvarez plated Tech's second run of the inning on a wild pitch by Aggie reliever Zach Dixon.

Texas A&M rallied in the bottom of the sixth with two runs on three hits.

Steve Rowe, who replaced Chris Phillips, in the sixth, gave up his first earned run of the season when A&M's Ty Garner tied the score with a solo home run, which knotted the score 6-6.

Rowe (3-1) suffered his first loss of the season, while Matt Farnum picked up his second win of the year for Texas A&M.
