Aggies Sweep Tech 4-1

COLLEGE STATION, Texas--No. 17 Texas A&M scored three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to complete a three-game sweep and top <b>No. 22 Tech</b> 4-1 on Sunday. <p> <br>

Texas A&M (13-4, 3-0) scored the first run of the game in the bottom of the third when Cody Mavroulis hit a two-out double down the first base line scoring Eric Reed from second.

Senior catcher Willie Durazo tied the game for Tech (13-7, 0-3) at 1-1 in the top of the seventh with a solo homer, his fourth this season.

The Aggies took over the game in the bottom of the eighth on a double by Neal Stephenson that plated Matt Alexander and Travis Wong giving the Aggies a 3-1 lead.

Stephenson reached third on the play after center fielder Jon Slack misplayed the ball. Tech reliever Chad Ertel, who replaced Steve Gooch after the double in the eighth, gave up the next run on a wild pitch, which scored Stephenson.

Gooch suffered his first defeat of the season, despite tossing a season-high eight innings, which included eight strikeouts and only one walk.

Matt Farnum (3-1) got the win in relief for A&M.
