Tech Downs 'Horns 10-5

<b>Nick Blankenship</b> went <b>3-for-4</b> with <b>five</b> RBIs to lead Tech past No. 14 Texas <b>10-5</b> at Dan Law Field on Friday. <p> <br>

Blankenship put the Raiders (16-7, 1-3) on the board with his eighth home run this season, a two-run shot off Texas starter Brad Halsey.

Texas (15-5, 1-3) scored a run in the top of the third inning when Tim Moss singled, plating Michael Hollimon. The Longhorns tied the game in the top of the fourth when Hollimon singled in J.D. Reininger, who reached on a throwing error by Blankenship.

The Longhorns took their first lead of the game in the top of the sixth inning on a two-run single by Hollimon.

Longhorn Ryan Hueble doubled to right center and scored on the play thanks to an error.

The Raiders rallied with two runs in the bottom of the seventh thanks to RBI singles by pinch hitter Madison Edwards and Blankenship. Moss saved two more runs for Texas in the inning with an outstanding defensive play on a hard hit ball by Bryon Smith to end the inning.

Tech overcame the 'Horns in the bottom of the eighth inning, scoring six runs on four hits and two Texas errors. Blankenship delivered the big hit with a two-out bases loaded double.

Matt Harbin earned the victory for Tech and improves to 2-1 this season.

Tech and Texas will clash again tomorrow in the second game of the series at 2 p.m.
