Senior <b>Nick Blankenship</b> tallied <b>seven</b> RBIs and <b>Jon Slack</b> set a school record with <b>six runs</b> scored during Tech's <b>17-6</b> win over Sam Houston State on Wednesday afternoon at Dan Law Field.<p> <br>

Blankenship continued his record setting season on Wednesday as he became the first player to tally seven or more RBIs since Jon Grimes picked up nine against Baylor on March 23, 1984.

Blankenship notched his 45th RBI on the afternoon and added his 10th home run of the season, which equals his total from last season.

Slack went 4-for-5 at the plate with six runs scored and three RBIs.

Tech (18-9) jumped out early taking a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first on RBI singles by Willie Durazo, Gera Alvarez and Blankenship.

Tech extended its lead to 10-1 by scoring three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.

The Bearkats (9-10) scored five runs in the top half of the seventh, but the rally didn't last as Tech responded with four additional runs in the bottom half of the inning.

Lubbock Monterey product Dusty Buck picked up his third win of the season after tossing six innings, while allowing nine hits and six earned runs.

Tech resumes Big 12 Conference play this weekend with a three-game series against Oklahoma State in Stillwater, Okla.

First pitch on Friday afternoon is scheduled for 3 p.m. at Allie P. Reynolds Stadium.
