***********QB MATT FLYNN (6-3, 220, 4.6) *************

This senior-to-be is one of the nation's most highly touted quarterback prospects.

Last season, Flynn completed 101-of-199 passes for 1,650 yards and 13 touchdowns, despite playing in a run-oriented offensive attack. He only threw nine interceptions and led Tyler Lee (8-4) to the playoffs.

Flynn benches 250 pounds, squats 390 pounds and owns a 33-inch vertical jump. His father, Alvin, played quarterback at Baylor from 1965-1970.

Flynn will be a full-qualifier and scored 1020 on his SAT. He will turn 17 years old on June 20.

This past weekend, Flynn visited Alabama, which offered him a scholarship. He's also received offers from Vanderbilt and Baylor.

Thayer's Take: "Matt is an excellent passer with a very strong and accurate arm. His timing is outstanding and he anticipates his receivers very well. He eludes the pass rush and completes tough throws with ease. His skills are a perfect match for Tech's offensive attack."

*****************APRIL 16 UPDATE*******************

JG: What teams are currently in your top five?

MF: "I really don't have a particular favorite right now, but my top five are Tennessee, Louisiana State, Baylor, Alabama and Texas Tech."

JG: What are your thoughts on Texas Tech's football program?

MF: "I really like it. I like the coaches and how they open it up on offense."

JG: Are you interested in playing in Tech's offense?

MF: "Definitely. It fits me perfectly. Their offense is a passing quarterback's dream."

JG: Who do you pattern your game after?

MF: "I try to play like Green Bay's Brett Favre. He always plays hard and has an unbelievable desire to win."

JG: Will your Dad's ties to Baylor influence your decision?

MF: "No. He isn't trying to persuade me at all. No matter where I choose to play, he'll support my decision."

JG: Is stepping in and playing right away important to you?

MF: "I think so. I don't have to play right away, but I would like to be playing within three years at the very most."

JG: Where will you attend football camp this summer?

MF: "I'll be camping at Texas Tech."

JG: Thanks for your time tonight and good luck.

MF: "No problem. Thank you."
