Player of the Game

Cody Hodges is the winner of this week's player of the game award for his gutsy performance against the Texas Longhorns.

The Red Raiders were able to move the ball against the tough Longhorn defense, but had some drive-ending mistakes that prevented us from putting points up on the board. Although the loss was very disappointing, Cody Hodges is the winner of this week's RaiderPower.com Player of the Game award. Cody had some mistakes as well, but overall played very tough and made some big plays.

On numerous occasions the pocket would collapse or receivers wouldn't be open and Cody would make something happen by rolling out and finding an open receiver or scrambling to get a first down. Cody finished the day 42 for 64 with 369 yards and 2 touchdowns. He had a touchdown pass to Taurean Henderson on a screen pass in the 1st quarter and great pass to Joel Filani in the endzone as he was scrambling to his right. The play looked very similar to what he did at the end of the Nebraska game when he threw the touchdown to Filani right as he was being hit.

One of the marks of a good quarterback is their ability to lead their team during victory and defeat. A lot will be learned about this Red Raider team over the next few weeks as they travel to Baylor and then have a home game against Texas A&M, and Cody Hodges will be one of the main components of keeping this Red Raider team headed towards an outstanding season.
