Texas Tech Tops Furman, 83-74

Coach Knight gets his 857th career win with the Red Raiders' victory over Furman.

Drew Coffman and Martin Zeno combined for 44 points Wednesday to lead the Red Raiders to their 3rd victory of the 2005-2006 season.

Junior Drew Coffman turned in the best performance of his career at Texas Tech, scoring 22 points and going 7-10 from the field, including 6-9 shooting from behind the 3-point line. Coffman also had 4 assists and only 2 turnovers on the night. Wednesday marked his 2nd start of the season and his 1st time to play the entire 40 minutes since he has been a Red Raider.

Despite fouling out late in the second half, Martin Zeno also contributed 22 points. Zeno had 5 assists, 4 boards, and 2 steals during the game. True freshman Terry Martin added 14 points. Jarrius Jackson struggled from the 3-point line making only 1 of his 4 points and finished the game with 9 points.

The Red Raiders did a good job of limiting their turnovers and had only 8 for the game. However, Furman out-rebounded Tech 34 to 21. Tech looks to improve their record to 4-2 Saturday when they face Morehead State. Tip off is at 2 p.m. and will be on ESPN Full Court.
