Flynn, Gatewood, Meachem and Hills

COLLEGE STATION, Texas--I just got back from the NIKE Camp and here's a report on the action. This was the most amazing group of athletes ever assembled in Texas. There were several surprises on both sides of the ball.

One of the most impressive physical specimens was Alief Elskin tight end Tony Hills. Hills (6-5, 266, 4.6) was easily the best looking player that I saw and he caught every ball that was thrown to him.

Another great physical specimen was Tulsa Washington's Robert Meachem. He ran an unbelievable 4.28 and he caught everything in sight during the passing drills.

Two other sensational receivers were Tyler Chapel Hill's Tyrell Gatewood and Shreveport Evangel's Tristen Ross. Both receivers are big, strong, fast and make big catches.

Gatewood made a long catch from Tyler Lee quarterback Matt Flynn which was spectacular. What if Gatewood transferred to Tyler Lee? It could happen.

Flynn (6-2, 216, 4.53) and Baytown Lee's Drew Tate (6-0, 170, 4.6) were easily the top two quarterbacks at the camp. I have notes on many others, but I must find out who they were before I talk about them. Both Flynn and Tate had great arms and loads of confidence in their ability.

NOTE: I have great photos of all of these players and I will be processing them in the next few days.

NEXT REPORT: Defensive Ends and Linebackers.
