Academics are #1 for Hollins

Baton Rouge product Jonathan Hollins is 100% focused on the Louisiana playoffs, but he took some time out of his day to give an update on his recruitment.

Jonathan Hollins, a senior at Redemptorist High School in Baton Rouge, LA, is looking forward to playing college football as well as the other anticipations that go along with being in college. This week, however, his mind is on preparing for Benton in the Louisiana State Semi-finals. "You can't overlook anyone," Hollins says. "My mindset is week to week right now."

Presently as a defensive end, Jonathan considers his biggest strength to be as a pass rusher. He also enjoys defending the rush and feels that "he is equal in both areas because you can't overlook one over the other."

Hollins has found some free time this year to visit Texas Tech and watch one of the Red Raiders' pre-conference games. The Louisiana native noted, "I was real impressed. Everyone was real friendly, and I got a chance to meet some of the coaches. I was also real impressed by the Texas Tech facilities "

After his high school football season is finished, Hollins plans to visit a few more colleges before making his final decision. "I plan on taking visits to Southern Mississippi, UCF, and possibly, Michigan State in the future. I want to take my time, keep everything in sight, and not overlook anything. I want to make the correct important decision for my future." When visiting his potential colleges, Hollins states that academics are his most important deciding factor. "I mostly look at the academics when I'm being recruited. I also like to look at the team's depth, as well as the coaching." Hollins said.
