Texas Tech Impressed Oglesby With Great Year

Texas Tech had a great season, going 9-2 and earning a birth in the Cotton Bowl to play against Alabama. Recruits are beginning to take notice of the program Mike Leach is building on the South Plains, and one of those players is Wesley Oglesby of Arlington, TX.

Texas defensive end Wesley Oglesby (6-5, 230, 4.7) from Arlington Grace Prep helped lead his team to a 12-2 record with 76 tackles, 28 for loss, 11 sacks, two fumbles caused and two recovered for touchdowns.

Oglesby just returned from an official visit to Duke and said the Blue Devils have a slight lead over Oklahoma State, Baylor, Texas Tech, Kansas and TCU. All of his favorites have offered him.

"I loved the people up there," Oglesby said. "It's a real close family atmosphere and I like how upbeat they are about next year. They have a couple key injuries this season and didn't do very well, but they are working hard to be recognized in football. I tend to like whichever school I just visited and they are on my mind right now. I was really impressed by everything that I saw."

But the team that has impressed Oglesby the most on the field is Texas Tech. "They are looking really strong," Oglesby said. "They had a great year and I'd be able to come in and help out on defense early."

He already visited Oklahoma State on September 17 and Baylor on October 15. "I don't plan to visit TCU officially because they are only about 10 miles away. "I'd like to make my decision soon after the New Year. I'm going to try to visit one more school before the holidays and that's it. I'm looking for a combination of things. First I need to get a sense of the direction of the program and when I'd be able to play. I also need to make sure I fit in and feel comfortable."

He reports a 3.5 GPA and a 1050 SAT.
