Red Raiders Fall in Conference Opener, 55-63

Despite owning a 7 point lead at halftime, Texas Tech lost to the Texas A&M Aggies in their 1st Big 12 game of the '05-‘06 season.

A&M's 3-point shooting and defensive play picked up tremendously in the 2nd half and proved to be the salvation for an Aggie team that looked lackluster in their first 20 minutes of play.

Junior Jarrius Jackson led the Red Raiders in scoring with 21 points. Jackson also pulled down 5 boards and had 3 assists. Sophomore Martin Zeno followed with 18 points and 8 rebounds.

Tech held a slight edge over A&M in rebounds, 28 to 26; however, the Red Raiders turned the ball over 18 times to the Aggies' 10 turnovers. 3-point shooting also plagued the Red Raiders as they were 1-5 on the night.

Texas Tech faces untested Baylor on Wednesday, January 11 in Lubbock. Tip-off is at 8:00 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN Full Court.
