Tech Lands Top WR

A lot of Tech fans wanted a high profile receiver in this recruiting class and they now have it. The Red Raider picked up another commitment this evening from one of the top athletes in the state.

Dallas Carter wide receiver Michael Crabtree ended his recruitment last evening when he gave the Texas Tech Red Raiders a verbal commitment.

"I committed to Texas Tech during an in-home visit last night," Crabtree said. "They had my whole family there, and I talked to my cousin (Ricky Williams), who played running back there. My father wanted me to go to Texas Tech, and it is close to home. They throw the ball a lot, and I can play as a freshman. I was just tired of taking visits."

Crabtree played quarterback in high school, but the position change didn't detour him from coming to Lubbock. "Tech is bringing me in to play receiver. I'll do whatever I have to play at the next level and playing wideout was the best option for me."

The high profile offense always is attractive to receivers, but there were a few other reasons that excited Michael about Tech. "I just really enjoyed my visit their. I like the coaching staff and the fact that they go to a better bowl game every year."

With recently losing long-time commit Greg McElroy to Alabama, mot Tech fans will be wondering if Michael has any future visits planned. "I'm not going to take anymore visits. Texas Tech is where I want to go."
