Dantay Ward originally committed to his hometown team, the Baylor Bears, but had a change of heart back in November and decided he would play football for Texas Tech. As most anticipated, this wouldn't be the end of DanTay's recruitment and other teams have continued to stay in contact with the 3 star prospect. RaiderPower.com caught with Ward to talk about where he stands on his commitment to the Red Raiders.
"A few teams still call me. Houston is still talking to me the most, but I am firm to Tech," said DanTay Ward
, the 6'2 296 pound defensive tackle. "They (Tech) play in the big 12 and play good opponents every week. The atmosphere down there is great and the coaching staff is really good."
Back in June Scout.com held a combine in Waco and DanTay was one of the best defensive linemen there. He and Florida commit Brandon Antwine stole the show and dominated all the 3-5 star offensive linemen that they went up against. He was able to get a great push on his man by brute strength, but he still has the athleticism to get around his opponent as well.
Ward is currently finishing up his senior year at Waco High School and is planning on reporting to Tech on June 5 to go to summer school.
