Julius Howard is Excited About Tech

Julius Howard, the 6'0 220 pound linebacker prospect out of Nimitz High School in Irving, TX, had a lot of options available to him with regards to picking where he wanted to play college football. He verbally committed to Tech a while back and RaiderPower.com caught up with him to see if he has wavered at all with his decision.

Julius Howard had offers from Baylor, Kansas State, UTEP, and Washington State, but all of these schools have since backed off because he let them know where he was going. "I was being contacted by other schools, but I just kept telling them I was going to Tech and they have all stopped calling."

Julius had a great time when he came and visited Tech and committed to the Red Raiders after only visiting UTEP. Something must have impressed Julius when he was visiting Lubbock to garner his commitment after only seeing one other school, and that was the academic side of everything. "I just really liked everything about my visit, especially the academic side of things. My parents really like the school too and we all think it is a good place for me. I just felt like I would fit in really well there."

Howard, like many other Tech recruits, is just waiting until signing day so he can start working on Bennie's off-season program. In the meantime, he is keeping himself busy to make sure he stays in shape. "I run track in the mornings and then lift weights with the football team after school. I'm excited to get started on Tech's workout program after I sign with them."
