Tech Inks 34 on National Signing Day

The autographs of 34 players made their way to the fax machine at Texas Tech. The Red Raiders had received pledges from a record 34 kids and every one of them came through on signing day, giving Mike Leach and Co. their best class to date.

Things got off to a fast start as Letter of Intents (LOI) came in very rapidly beginning at 8 am this morning. Two hours and forty five minutes later, all but 2 players had faxed in their commitments to play for the red and black come next fall. Those 2 players were Broderick Marshall and Ofa Mohetau.

Broderick would get his in by 11:30 AM and now the only recruit from the 2006 class left to sign was Mohetau, the 5 star offensive lineman out of the College of the Sequoias. Everyone waited around in hopes of hearing that Ofa's fax was in and the 2006 class was complete.

The Red Raiders received that wish at 2:40 this afternoon when the final fax came through with Mohetau's signature on it.

In years past there has always been a player or two that has a change of heart and doesn't fax in his LOI to Tech and heads off somewhere else. This year there were no surprises come signing day, with every player committed to Tech honored their commitments to the Red Raiders.

We will spend the next week breaking down this class and discussing how they fit in to the current framework already on campus. RaiderPower.com will review every position and provide in-depth analysis on how the coaching staff will fill all the voids left by graduation.

Now that the class of 2006 is officially in the books we will focus all of our efforts towards the class of '07 and the preparations being made for next season. Before you know it, spring practice will be here and we will be providing daily practice reports for all of our premium members so they can see how the team is shaping up for next season.
