North Mesquite DT Has Tech in Top 5

The Red Raiders were able to ink 9 defensive linemen on signing day and they are already after some very talented kids from the class of 2007. One in particular is very high on Texas Tech and already has an offer in hand.

North Mesquite DT Stephen Thomas is one of those prospects that can choose anywhere he wants to go. He already has two written offers and there are sure to me more coming soon.

"I currently have offers from A&M and (Texas) Tech. The coaches from Texas, Oklahoma, and Oklahoma State all told me that they will be offering me soon as well."

With so much interest coming early for the 6'3 287 pound prospect he has yet to name a favorite, but he does have a top 5. "I would have to say my top 5 right now is Texas, (Texas) Tech, Florida State, USC, and Oklahoma," said Thomas.

A lot of young players like to stay close to home, but that's not the case with Stephen. "Location isn't too important to me. I want to go somewhere that there will be plenty to do just to keep me busy, but staying close to home isn't a priority. I just want to find a school where I fit in."

Sonny Dykes is one of the best recruiters the Red Raiders have, so it wasn't too much of a surprise when we found out who was handling Thomas' recruitment. "Coach Dykes is the one talking to me from Tech. I really would like to play early and he said that I will have that opportunity at Tech," said Stephen.
