Texas Tech to face Baylor in Waco

The Texas Tech Red Raiders (14-14, 6-8) travel to Waco this Wednesday to face the Baylor Bears (3-11). The game will begin at 7:00 pm inside the Ferrell Center and will air on the Texas Tech Television Network, with coverage including the Lubbock area.

Texas Tech is still trying to capture its second conference road game of the season and this is their final chance to do so.  This is the last road game of the season for the Red Raiders who are looking to creep up back to .500 in the conference standings.

Baylor has recorded three wins this season with all of them being at home.  They include a close 72-70 victory over Kansas State, a blow-out 90-64 win verses Missouri, and their most recent game defeating Iowa State 91-73.

Baylor lost their season debut to Texas Tech last month in Lubbock, 79-61.  Aaron Bruce led Baylor in scoring with 20 points, while Jarrius Jackson racked up 22 for Tech.  Baylor did not have a non-conference season as part of NCAA penalties for a number of violations under former coach Dave Bliss.

A Tech win for this game is very important to help increase the Red Raiders’ chances of going to the NIT.  Baylor is not the same team Tech faced last month; they are much more improved and now have some experience under their belt from their limited conference season.

This will be the 112th meeting between the two teams, with Texas Tech leading the series 72-39.  Of all the games played at Baylor, Tech leads 27-25.

Keys to the Game:

1. aggressive rebounding
2. limiting turnovers
3. containing guards Curtis Jerrells and Aaron Bruce
