Although Texas Tech finished out the regular season with a
disappointing three consecutive losses, they are looking to rebound and finish
off the year on a good note. The eighth-seeded Red Raiders are looking to beat
the ninth-seeded Wildcats which would then lead to a third match-up this year
with No. 1 seed Texas. If the Red Raiders pick up a couple wins here at the Big
12 Tournament, they may have an outside chance of making the NIT. Jarrius Jackson, named to the All-Big 12 First Team earlier this week, continues to lead
the Big 12 in scoring with 20.3 points per game. Martin Zeno, named All-Big 12
Honorable Mention, is second in team scoring averaging 13.9 points per contest.
In last month's meeting with the Wildcats, Jon Plefka led the Red Raiders with 16 points. Other players scoring in double figures were Alan Voskuil and Jarrius Jackson with 15 points each, and Martin Zeno with 11. Kansas State's Cartier Martin and Lance Harris both scored 15 points in the loss at Texas Tech, 70-56.
This will be the 20th meeting between the two teams, with Kansas State leading the series 10-9. Texas Tech claims the victory of the only other game played at a neutral site.
