Approximately 150 of the top prospects in the Lone Star State will gather at Floyd Casey Stadium at the University of Baylor for this weekend's Scout.com combine. Three of the state's top four players are confirmed to attend the camp. Let's take a look at some of the big names scheduled to be on hand this weekend.
The top quarterback that will be on hand is Mansfield Summit's John Chiles, who has offers from most every program in the Big 12 including the national champion Texas Longhorns. Chiles won't be the only headliner, Brenham gun-slinger Jaret Lee, who carries four scholarship offers, will also be on hand. Robinson's Randy Kitchens and Allen's Nathan Dick will also be on hand to show they are elite level signal callers. Sleeper Kenny Greaves of Coppell will show that he belongs in the discussion of top quarterbacks. Southlake Carroll quarterback Riley Dodge, a 2008 prospect and son of Carroll head coach Todd Dodge will also be on hand.
Rusk's Justin Sturns, Tatum's Lennon Creer and Pflugerville Hendrickson's Joseph Reese are all national 100 candidates who will lead a very talented running back crop. Garland's Johnny Wooten, Desoto's Adrian Abner, John Tyler's Kendall Hunter and La Porte's Quentin Castille are other top prospects that will be on hand.
Wide Receivers/Tight Ends
This very well could be the camp's most impressive group and it's led by Hempstead star Terrance Toliver, who looks to dominate the show. Lufkin's Dez Bryant, Round Rock's James Kirkendoll, Cedar Hill's Romie Blaylock and A&M Consolidated's Detron Lewis are other prospects that will be in attendance that already hold scholarship offers. Tyler Lee's Jacob Amie, Mansfield Summit's Bradley Haynes, Midlothian's Ricky Simpson and Harker Heights Nick Trice are others to keep an eye on.
Virtually every top tight end in the state will be on hand as well with Brenham's Ahmard Howard leading the pack. Irving's Dante Pinchback, Galveston Ball's Frank Avery, Westwood's Nate Alexander and Aledo's Anson Kelton will also be on hand. Beaumont Westbrook's multi purpose athlete Billy Chavis will also be on hand and has chosen to work out as a tight end.
The state's top offensive lineman, Tray Allen of South Grand Prairie will be on hand. Corsicana's Courtney Green is also slated to be on hand along with Fossil Ridge star Chris Perry, Lancaster's Anthony Morgan, Dallas Carter's Jeremiah Hatch, Cedar Hill's John Jones and Lamar Consolidated big man Jarvis Jones.
Arguably the state's top prospect, Dallas Lincoln's Richetti Jones, is scheduled to attend. Killeen Shoemaker defensive end Brandon Joiner, La Marque's Raphael Guidry, Schertz Clemen's Tyrell Higgins, Berkner's Kramer Lucio, Denton Ryan's Ben Goldthorpe are other top defensive ends that will be in attendance.
Linebackers Texas A&M commitment Derrick Stephens will be attendance showing his stuff. Hendrickson's Joshua Gaines, Duncanville's Mychal Sisson, Cedar Hill's Chris Francis, Humble's Charles Hines, Clearbrook's Anthony Smith and Seguin's Kenny Sims will also lead a strong group.
The safeties will be lead by La Marque's James Thomas. Berkener's Justin Johnson will work at safety, which is where he projects in college. Other stars that will be on hand are Aldine's Curtis Thomas, North Mesquite's Larry Rosebud and Pflugerville's Reggie Madu.
