Gerald Jones Checks Out Lubbock, TX

Gerald Jones is one of the top recruits in the entire country. He was in Lubbock this past weekend to check out spring practice and the Texas Tech campus. We caught up with Gerald to talk about how his trip went.

Spring practice is always a great atmosphere for recruits to see. It's a really good way for the prospects to see the different coaching styles and how the team works together. Gerald Jones, the 5'11 185 pound athlete out of Millwood HS, decided to do just that by making an unofficial visit to Lubbock.

While Jones was in town, he had a chance to visit with some of the coaches. "I sat down and talked with Mike Leach and RB coach Seth Littrell," said Jones. "They both are great guys. They talked to me about how I would fit into the offense at Tech."

With all the great things Tech has to offer, such as the new construction on the stadium, a state-of-the-art practice facility, and a high-flying offense, what impressed Gerald the most? "What impressed me the most was the team unity I saw. When I was at practice, you could see the players were like a big family. That's something I want wherever I decide to go."

The Red Raiders recently received a commitment from Gerald's teammate, Tramain Swindall. How will this affect their chances in picking up Gerald?

"Tramain and I are close. We both want to go to the same school," said Jones. "I kind of want to wait around some to check out other schools though before I commit."

Gerald currently is holding scholarship offers from Texas Tech, Michigan, Florida, Notre Dame, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Oklahoma State, just to name a few.

Texas Tech is recruiting Gerald as a running back or a flanker.
