Red Raiders Offer La Marque Safety

Texas Tech lost both of their starting safeties to graduation this past season, so the Texas Tech coaching staff is looking to bring in some top talent to help fill the void left by Vincent Meeks and Dwayne Slay. One of their top targets for the class of 2007 is a safety prospect out of La Marque, TX.

One of the top performers at the combine in Waco was La Marque safety James Thomas. He has been sitting on five offers from quite a while, but recently addedtwo new ones.

"Texas Tech and Iowa State have offered me now," Thomas said. "I haven't really been anywhere this spring except to that camp at Baylor. I've just been focusing on my upcoming season."

As a junior Thomas collected 90 tackles and 11 interceptions. He was named first team all-state and selected as the district defensive player of the year.

"At this point I am still planning to wait until the season is over to make any kind of decision or anything like that," Thomas said. "I am going to try and hit a few camps over the summer."
