Does Tech still lead for top Lufkin WR?

Dez Bryant out of Lufkin, TX has had the Red Raiders at the top of his list for quite some time. Bryant was recently offered by Oklahoma, but does Tech still lead?

With an offer from Oklahoma, wide receiver Dez Bryant (6-1, 203, 4.6), of Lufkin, Texas said the Sooners lead slightly over Texas Tech, LSU, Texas A&M and Florida (no offer).

"Texas Tech was my top pick and they are still right there," Bryant said, "but I'm feeling Oklahoma a little more right now."

Bryant said he wants to play as early as possible and thinks he could do that at Oklahoma or Texas Tech. "I really like Oklahoma. I think they are going in the right position to win more championships and I want to help them get back to that level. They offered me three weeks ago. I've talked to Coach (Josh) Heupel a lot. He's coming to see me this month some time. He told me that they saw my tape and really thought I'd fit in at Oklahoma well. I haven't been there before but I'm going for a visit on June 29.

"I really like Texas Tech. Coach (Bill) Benderbaugh was the first coach to call me last week. It was cool. He just wanted to check in and see how I was doing. He said they're coming to my spring game in a couple of weeks.

"LSU offered me a couple of weeks ago," he said. "Coach (Larry) Porter called my coach when I was at practice. My coach called me off the field and handed me the phone. Coach Porter told me I had a scholarship offer to come to LSU. He said to me ‘Are you happy now' and I was like ‘yes, sir'. They want me to come for a visit in August. They're coming to my game in Shreveport in August. I like the offense at LSU…it all depends on if they get a good quarterback.

"A&M is still up there too," Bryant said. "I have some friends that play there and I'm really familiar with the school. It's only two hours from my house. I've talked with Coach (Dennis) Franchione and Coach (Jim Bob) Helduser a lot.

"Florida is one of my favorites too. I think they're just about to offer. They e-mail a lot and call me. I know they want me at the Swamp. They're going to come watch my spring game on May 18. I think I'll get the offer after that."

Bryant said is also being heavily recruited by USC and Tennessee. "I think Tennessee is going to offer soon. They've been calling me a lot. With all the attention, I've got a strong feeling about the offer."

Bryant won't disclose his core GPA and plans on taking his first-time SAT and ACT in May and June.
