"I'm still wide open," said Mendoza. Although he is yet to narrow down his favorites, Marcus does know what he's looking for in a college. "I want to go somewhere to get a good education, and have a good football career. Distance doesn't matter."
Marcus likes the Texas Tech and USC type of offenses because they like to throw the ball to the running back. Saying that he'd like to be used similar to how Reggie Bush was used at USC as a passing option out of the backfield and also a running threat. His camp plans are a little undecided as of yet, he says he would like to go to one of OSU's Houston camps.
A new school that's been hot on his trail is Florida. "Florida came by my school sometime last week when we were still doing our spring training," said Marcus. "They text me a lot and I think they might be sending and offer down." The Gators as well as everyone else like him as a running back prospect and there have been no talks (as of his knowledge) that might lead him to think they want him at another position.
For the upcoming football season Marcus is busy lifting and getting stronger in order to accomplish his goals for next seasons team. "Make it to the playoffs, that's what were trying to do." As evidence of this the entire off-season consisted of lifting weights and working out during the teams football period.
Marcus weighs a solid 175 pounds and has added a bit of muscle to his frame in the offseason.
