Tennessee WR Goes From 2 to 4

Roderick Davis, the 6'0 180 pound wide receiver out of Memphis, Tennessee, has shown some interest in the Red Raiders. He has recently expanded his lists of schools he is considering from 2 to 4. Is Texas Tech one of them?

Last season Roderick Davis caught 39 passes for 780 yards and 12 TD's.

This opened the eyes from recruiters from around the south as Tennessee, South Carolina, and Ole Miss offered Davis a scholarship in February.

But it was not until the combines this spring and summer that made Davis' name blow up.

"I have been to college camps at LSU, Alabama, Ole Miss, and Auburn. I went to Hoover's 7 on 7 tournament last week. I got a couple of new offers from Oklahoma State and Marshall. I have been offered by Ole Miss, Texas Tech, Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi State, South Carolina, and Auburn now. I think I helped myself by going to these camps. I know it helped me get all of these offers," added Roderick Davis.

How well did Davis perform at the Hoover tournament?

"It was great. We went against a lot of great players for different teams. I showed why I should be rated highly nationally. I had twenty something touchdowns during the games."

Now it is time to start focusing on his senior campaign.

"We started practice on Monday. We have all been working out together all summer though. We were just trying to stay in shape and become one big family. I think we are really going to surprise some people this year."

Davis has had Tennessee and Ole Miss at the top of his list for some time now, but two more teams have entered the mix.

"I have four front-runners now. Tennessee, Ole Miss, Texas Tech, and Auburn. Those are the ones I am looking the hardest at right now."

What stands out about Tennessee?

"Their staff, offense, and defense. They have a tradition of going to bowl games."

Ole Miss' positives?

"At this time it is their offense and staff."

What about Auburn?

"Both their offense and defense. In the past years, they have had great teams."

What are Tech's positives?

"Their offense also."

Which college(s) want(s) Roderick the most?

"Wow, that would have to be between Ole Miss and Tennessee. They have let it be known from day one that I was their number one guy."
