"I am interested in Miami, Nebraska, Texas and Texas Tech," Burks said. "My favorite would definitely be Miami. I like the way that they play defense, and I think that I would fit in well."
Burks is hearing from a number of schools through the mail but has not received any scholarship offers as of right now.
"I have heard from a lot of different schools but mainly from Texas Tech and Tennessee," Burks said. "My coach told me that Tennessee tried to qualify me for a scholarship offer but couldn't because I am only a sophomore".
The 6-foot-2, 200 pound Burks ran the 40-yard dash in 4.5 seconds and registered anywhere from six to seven tackles per game as a sophomore outside linebacker. He will have to go through a major transition on the football field during his junior season.
"I played outside linebacker last year, but I am moving to strong safety this year," Burks said. "I will probably be recruited to play safety".
Burks believes that his ability to communicate with others on the field and his superior tackling skills should allow him to make an easy transition to the secondary.
Burks hopes to make a trip to Austin to check out the Longhorns in action sometime during the upcoming football season. He would also like to mix in a trip to watch the Texas Tech Red Raiders.
