The No. 24-ranked Texas Tech Red Raiders (4-1, 1-0) practiced in helmets Thursday on the field at Jones AT&T Stadium, finalizing their preparations for Saturday evening's homecoming match-up with undefeated Missouri (5-0, 1-0).
The team spent the early portion of practice following the usual Thursday routine of running plays under the simulated crowd conditions played through the stadium's sound system. The second half of practice featured this season's sixth installment of Thursday Night Football, where underclassmen and walk-ons participate in a full-contact scrimmage.
For the second week in a row, it was the defense that controlled the action with a steady pass rush led by freshman Dewayne Baziel who had three sacks on the day. The offense's lone touchdown came on a long pass from quarterback Ryan Rowland to receiver Chris Cunigan on a post pattern down the middle of the field.
The Red Raiders will not practice on Friday and will be in action again on Saturday against the Tigers. Kickoff is set for 6:00 p.m. and will be broadcast nationally on TBS.
