Texas Tech Pursues New RB

With the recent committments of Gerald Jones and Marcus Mendoza, the Red Raiders have moved onto a new running back target. Not only have they begun pursuing him, they have sent him an official offer and have him coming in for an official visit this weekend. Come inside to read about Texas Tech's newest target.

Jared Flannel is a young man who wants to do one thing and do it well. The 6'0" 180 pound running back/corner back from Columbia High School in West Columbia, Texas, made that desire perfectly clear. He wants to win games for the college he is going to play for. Simply put, Flannel wants to go to a "Good school period. The one that [I] feel the most comfortable at. Just somewhere I can best fit into the program, either on offense or defense."

Flannel has already begun taking official visits to universities that interest him. The first visit he took was in September to University of Arizona but he still plans on attending more, including a visit to Texas Tech the weekend of December 9th.

As for Jared's top schools, he said "Arizona, Texas Tech, and Missouri are my top 3. I don't really have a favorite though, but those are my top 3."

When asked about a time table for his commitment, Jared did not offer a specific date but did say that he would commit "If I find something comfortable I might commit, but I want to find that before I do." Jared did hint that as soon as he found that place, he would commit and that it would most likely be before National Signing Day.

Jared said that the most important thing for him is to be a "Team player and do whatever he needs to do, offensively or defensive to help win every game, practice hard and be a leader wherever he goes."

One pothole that won't have to be crossed with Jared is the issue of grades, since he reports a 3.4 and a qualifying score on the SAT. He went so far as to say that "grades are one of the things that I am bringing with me."
