Kirkendoll planning a trip to Lubbock?

With the graduation of Joel Filani, Jarrett Hicks, and Robert Johnson, the Texas Tech coaching staff is looking to reload some talent in the wide receiving corp. They have been hitting the recruiting trail hard and were in Round Rock, TX yesterday trying to reel in standout WR James Kirkendoll.

James Kirkendoll is one of those receivers who have the ability to come in and make an early impact wherever he goes. He is a speed burner and would be a terrific fit for Coach Mike Leach's high octane offense.

Texas Tech sent two coaches to visit Kirkendoll at his home in Round Rock on Thursday evening.

"Coach Holgerson and Coach Sadler came by today and we had a good chat," said Kirkendoll. "They told me a lot about the program and how I would fit in. They talked to me about how I could come in and play early with a lot of their wide receivers graduating this year."

Although James is definitely interested in the Red Raiders, they are going to have to fight off some top programs to get his LOI on signing day.

"I have narrowed down my list to Florida, Oklahoma, Texas Tech, and Nebraska," said Kirkendoll. "Those are the 4 schools I am going to really look at."

With all the physical talent that James possesses, he wants to go in and make an immediate impact.

"The biggest thing for me is getting to play early wherever I go. I don't want to redshirt."

While the coaching staff was visiting Kirkendoll, they did manage to setup an official visit for him to come see Lubbock. He will be here the weekend of Jan. 20th to come see exactly what Lubbock and Texas Tech has to offer.

The only other official visit he has setup at this time is Nebraska on January 12th.
