Recruiting Rundown: Offense

Signing day is just 12 days away, which will mark the day high school prospects can officially sign their letters of intent to attend Texas Tech. The Red Raiders have filled one of their biggest needs by landing commitments from a few of the top offensive linemen in the state of Texas. breaks down these players and the rest of the commits on the offensive side of the ball.

Lonnie Edwards, Offensive Guard (****) - Incredibly strong guard, build with the NFL size that has become all the rage at his position. Played in run based offense in high school, so will have some learning to do but should make up for it with brutal mentality in the trenches.

Jerrod Gooch, Offensive Tackle (***)- The 6 foot 5 inch tall Gooch has the frame to easily add more weight to his already large 295 pounds. Has the size that college coaches like at tackle, could be an early contributor with the lack of depth at both tackle positions.

Mickey Okafor, Offensive Tackle (***)- Another massive tackle prospect, the 6'6 290 pound lineman has size similar to that of departed offensive lineman Daniel Loper. Another possible early contributor, his biggest up-side is a tremendous wing-span to contain pass rushers.

Jared Flannel, Running Back (***) - Physical runner with good speed at a 4.51 forty time, frame can add more weight at 6 feet flat and 180 pounds. Terrific overall athlete and also a talented defensive back, could end up at corner before his time in Lubbock is done.

Dominique Delpeche, Offensive Tackle (**)- Massive offensive tackle at 6 feet 7 inches tall and 338 pounds, could be moved to guard with his combination of size and power. He is built in the same style as current Red Raider guards Brandon Carter and Louis Vasquez.

Jacob Amie, Tight End/Inside Receiver (***) - Incredibly physical tight end, could play in the slot for the Red Raiders. Has terrific size at 6 feet 4.5 inches tall and 215 pounds, his 4.6 gives him plenty of speed to play as a receiver. Could add weight and become a hybrid tight end/receiver in the mold of Jonny Harline from BYU.

Stefan Loucks, Quarterback (***)- Another in a long line of heralded young quarterbacks, will red-shirt to add bulk to his 6 feet 2 inch tall, 185 pound frame. Outstanding arm strength, a lightning quick release, and a high point of release are his strongest attributes.

Jacoby Franks, Wide Receiver (**) – 6 foot 2 inch tall wide receiver with a build similar to that of recently graduated Red Raider Robert Johnson, has good hands and awareness. Will most likely need to gain weight, since he is fairly light at 180 pounds. His 4.5 forty makes him the deceptively fast receiver that college coaches love to have on their rosters.

Rashad Hawk, Wide Receiver (***)- Another 6 foot 2 inch tall, 180 pound receiver, he is another strong and fast receiver that the Red Raiders like to have around. Much like Jacoby Franks, will probably need to add a fair amount of weight before he is ready for Big XII football.

Blake Emert, Offensive Tackle (***)- The fourth offensive tackle commit with NFL height at 6 feet 5 inches tall, needs to add more weight to his current 270 pounds before he is ready for the trenches.

Tramain Swindall, Wide Receiver (***)- The third true wide receiver commitment, he is also the third to be 6 feet 2 inches in height. Comes in 10 pounds lighter than fellow commits Rashad Hawk and Jacoby Franks, he will have the opportunity like his fellow young wide receivers to contribute immediately.
