Red Raiders Ink 25

The Texas Tech coaches can breathe a little easier now that signing day has arrived and without any major surprises. The 2007 recruiting class panned out quite nicely for the Red Raiders, who received 25 letters of intent this morning.

All of Tech's verbal commits signed with the exception of Jonathan Hollins, who did not qualify and will be attending a junior college in Mississippi next semester.

On the offensive side of the ball, the Red Raiders landed 6 receivers, 7 offensive linemen, quarterback Stefan Loucks, and 1 running back. Wide receivers Jacob Amie and Detron Lewis are both talented players who should be able to compete for playing time as true freshmen.

2007's offensive line class is imposing thanks in part to Jerrod Gooch's late switch from UT and Mickey Okafor's recent decision to come to Tech. At 6'5" and 315 lbs., Lonnie Edwards is the star of the group and has a good chance of seeing the field early.

Defensively, Tech picked up 3 safeties and 6 defensive linemen. Sam-Earl Fehoko, a defensive end out of Honolulu Hawaii, and Bobby Agoucha, a massive, relatively unknown defensive lineman, are the biggest commits for the Tech D.

Tech's only two JUCO commits are defensive linemen Daniel Howard and Brandon Sharpe, and due to their experience should be able to compete for playing time.

Jonathan LaCour signed with Tech as a kicker.

OL Omar Castillo and RB Aaron Crawford are possible grade risks. Crawford informed us that he is taking the ACT soon and is very close to qualifying.

Overall, the Red Raiders signed a good class and received a lot of help at WR and OL, where they will be losing 7 starters between the 2 positions.
