Tech lands committment #5

The Texas Tech coaching staff has landed another one for the class of 2008. Former Tech signee RB Jocques Crawford informed RaiderPower that he has decided to head to Lubbock after he finishes his eligibility at Cisco Junior College. Jocques said that he will be playing a new position once he arrives in Lubbock. Come inside for all the latest news about Tech's newest commit.

Jocques Crawford is a name that is familiar to most Texas Tech fans. The shifty running back signed with the Red Raiders in the class of 2006 but didn't qualify out of high school.

Determined to continue his football career, Crawford headed to Cisco Junior College to play running back.

Now that he has one season under his belt, Jocques has decided on where he is going to go after he finishes his eligibility at Cisco.

"Yeah, I am committed to Texas Tech," said Crawford. "I'm really excited to get down there and play division 1 football."

Over the past year, Texas Tech wasn't the only school trying to persuade the 6'0, 220 pound athlete to attend their university.

"Arizona, Ole Miss, Iowa State, and a few other schools were coming after me," said Jocques. "Tech is where I want to be though."

Jocques was a standout running back at Cordova High School in Memphis, TN, but the Red Raider coaching staff has a different plan for the versatile athlete.

"They are bringing me in to play strong safety. I mainly played running back in high school but I did play some safety."

So does Jocques have a problem with coming in and possibly playing a new position?

"It doesn't matter to me," said Crawford. "I just want to play."
