"I plan on enrolling at Tech for the second summer session," said Roberson. "The coaches told me that how much I play is up to me and how hard I work, so getting there early should help me."
The second summer session is a few months away, so what does John plan on doing in the meantime?
"Just to continue working out and sharpening my game," said the 5'11, 168 pound guard. "I plan on gaining about 5-10 pounds of muscle before I get to Lubbock. I want to make sure I keep my quickness, but I know I need to put on weight before I get to college."
With experienced guards such as Martin Zeno, Charlie Burgess, and Alan Voskuil in front of him, Roberson will have his work cut out for him if he's going to get playing time next season. John plans on getting right to work to earn some time on the court.
"I plan on coming in and competing. Nothing is guaranteed but if I come in and work hard I can possibly earn playing time as a freshman."
In high school Roberson lit up the stat column, averaging over 25 points and 6 assists per contest. Although he is able to be a proficient scorer when he needs to, John plans on using a different approach for when he puts on that Red Raider uniform.
"I'm really good at getting everyone involved. I'm a very capable scorer as well, but I enjoy getting my teammates involved."
It sounds like Mr. Roberson is going to fit right in.
