Tech lands commitment #9

The Red Raiders landed a big commitment over the weekend. And when we say big, we're talking 6'7 big. New Diana HS offensive lineman Terry McDaniel made a verbal pledge to Texas Tech, making him the 9th commitment of the class of 2008.

Terry McDaniel, the 6'7, 315 pound offensive tackle, wanted to get the recruiting process over before his senior season, and he did just that during his visit to Lubbock over the weekend.

"Ye sir, I committed to Texas Tech. I had a great time with Coach Leach and the rest of the staff."

The Red Raiders had yet to land an offensive lineman for the class of 2008, but were looking for a few good prospects to help fill the void left by the 4 departing seniors last year.

Texas Tech has placed several offensive linemen in the NFL over the last few years which always helps when recruiting high school prospects. Was this what helped McDaniel decide, or was it something else?

"What I really liked was the facilities and the coaches. I also really loved the town. Lubbock was a clean city and easy to get around."

McDaniel chose Texas Tech over offers from LSU, Colorado, and Kansas State.

With many big time programs currently pursuing him, will McDaniel be taking any other visits or is this the end of the road?

"No, I'm done. Texas Tech is where I want to be."
