The 5'9, 180 pound athlete made a visit to Lubbock this past weekend and liked what he saw so much that he decided Texas Tech was the place for him in less than 24 hours.
Lawton High School head coach Randy Breeze is extremely excited for Douglas.
"He committed to Texas Tech today. Actually, I have a Texas Tech UnderArmour polo on right now," laughed Breeze.
Douglas, a quarterback in high school, was highly sought after by schools around the country. He has the ability to play several different positions, but Texas Tech is recruiting him as a slot receiver.
"He's just a special athlete," explained Coach Breeze. "He had over 20 division 1 offers at 5 different positions. He's extremely versatile and he will excel in Texas Tech's offense."
Douglas can be a game breaker at wide receiver and will remind Texas Tech fans of speedy receiver Nehemiah Glover. His game breaking ability comes from his quick acceleration, which coach Breeze sees as one of his biggest weapons as a receiver.
"He has great hands, but the biggest asset he will bring is his 90 degree turn. He can come out of his cuts full speed after one step. You've got to see it to believe it."
Douglas is commitment #12 in the class of 2008. Signing day is February 6th.
