He has already attended a few junior days and holds one offer. Now Austin (TX) LBJ linebacker Kerry Hyder looks for his stocks to rise this off-season. At the moment, the 6-foot-3, 240-pound Hyder has no favorites, but he is hearing from quite a few schools in the Big 12.

"I have one offer right now from Minnesota," Hyder said. "I also hear from Texas, Michigan State, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, and Texas Tech."

Hyder said that he has already checked out the campuses of Texas and Texas A&M, with his most recent trip being to College Station for the Aggie spring game. But it's another school in Texas has been showing him the most interest.

"It seems like Texas Tech is more interested than anyone else," Hyder said. "They seem like they really want me."

He said that the Red Raider coaches have been by the school recently and picked up his junior highlights.

"I haven't talked with them lately, but they have come by the school and talked with my coach," Hyder said. "I think they may be the next (school) to offer. I hope so."

His plans are to be in Lubbock this summer for a mini camp. Most of the schools looking at Hyder want him to play defensive end even though he is not familiar with the position.

But the Texas linebacker hopes that his tour of camps this summer will show that he is a natural linebacker.

"I'm pretty sure that most schools want me to play defensive end," Hyder said. "But I will go to plenty of camps this summer so they can see how I play."

Hyder also plans to attend camps at Texas, Michigan State, Texas A&M, and Oklahoma this summer. He finished the season with 153 tackles, five sacks, and two interceptions (one returned for touchdown).
