"Last Wednesday evening (April 23rd) Nunes called Texas Tech WR Coach Lincoln Riley to learn that that Texas Tech head coach Mike Leach has extended an offer," said Upland High assistant coach Mike Esquivel.
Nunes' latest offer was his 15th to date, and he has been enjoying all of the attention, especially from one of the best offenses in all of college football.
"Texas Tech has a very storied offense; it's a great quarterback university," said an excited Nunes. " It's just an honor to be offered by Texas Tech. I've heard a lot of great things about the program and about Coach Mike Leach. I talked with [wide receivers coach] Lincoln Riley. He seems like a really great guy, and I was excited to hear that Tech decided to offer me."
Mike Leach is very selective when offering quarterbacks and this one is no different. Nunes fits the bill for the type of player who will excel as a signal caller for the Air Raid offense.
"My biggest strength is my ability to make my reads. I have confidence that I can make the correct read and get the ball to my receivers. I am more a pro-style quarterback that stays in the pocket, but I can roll out and run if I need to."
With so many offers, Josh hasn't had much time to begin breaking down his extensive list of suitors.
"I haven't narrowed anything down yet as far as a list of favorites. I also got an offer from Nebraska today, so I'm up to 15 total offers."
As for summer plans, Nunes will be making the rounds to several different combines to show off his athletic ability, including a stop at the Scout.com camp in California.
"I don't have plans to attend any specific college camps this summer, but I will be attending the Elite 11 Quarterback camp in Southern California, the Nike camp, and the Scout.com UnderArmour camp."
Nunes is 6'4", 211 pounds and reports a 4.8 second 40 yard dash.
Josh has a 4.5 honors GPA and a 1900 SAT score.
